The coronation of King Charles III last week provided a lot of material for cartoonists, so I joined in with a few of my own. You’ll notice that my four cartoons vary wildly in style, partly because I was trying to achieve something different with each one, and partly because they just turned out that way. I’d be interested in your thoughts, if you want to leave a comment.
I’m not a fan of the monarchy (as you might conclude), but I did watch parts of the ceremony for cartoon inspiration. From an atheist perspective, the language and rituals were completely nuts (the opulence was staggering), and I wondered what ‘God’ might have made of it all. I picked out a few nuggets in my ‘heavenly’ cartoon strip, and captured Charlie and his orb (or Holy Hand Grenade).
The London Metropolitan Police were in the news again expressing regret (sorry, not sorry) for arresting loads of people at the coronation who might have been thinking about exercising their right to protest, including some council workers. Expect to be arrested anytime by the pre-crime unit for a future offence you haven’t thought about yet.
Episode 6 of Up In The Moor finds a posse out searching for the ‘Thing In The Woods’.
