Hi, this is my weekly cartoon newsletter. If you haven’t already, why not subscribe and have it emailed to your inbox every Friday - it’s free!
It was 30°C (86°F) this week. Here. In Scotland! 🔥
It’s great to have some warm sunny weather for a change, and it’s been over two weeks now, but we’re just not accustomed, or genetically built, for this kind of heat (feels like 300°C).
I lived in Madrid for nearly ten years and learned to avoid the extremes of the sun and the heat - like the savvy Madrileños - so my reaction to a rare Scottish heatwave is to do the same.
However, this is not the reaction of many (white) Scots, who gleefully strip naked and sacrifice themselves to the visiting Sun God. A sea of milky-white Celtic skin turning angry red and sizzling almost instantaneously is painful to watch.
Some like it hot, but just like my wee dog, I cease to function above 15°C (59°F). This is one reason for the reduced cartoon output this week. Another is that I am working on another project which has taken up a lot of time. And, regrettably, I also had to miss National Weed Your Garden Day.
More positive news is that in a couple of weeks my newsletter will have reached its 26-week milestone (six months, already?). Many thanks to everyone who has followed and supported me thus far.
To mark the milestone, I’m working on some changes to make the newsletter a little more consistent and sustainable going forward.
My weekly newsletter is free to subscribe - and always will be - but I’m also working on a paid-subscription option that I hope to launch Jul/Aug’23.
I love drawing my cartoons and sharing them with you, but I also recognise that the time and work involved is probably much greater than many people realise. A paid option would hopefully encourage a small amount of patronage to help support my work, sustain the newsletters, and fund the tea and biscuits 🫖.
I can share that the paid option will include a monthly newsletter with more content, special paid-subscriber benefits, and so on. I’ll release more details over the coming weeks.
Thanks for reading and subscribing!
If you like what you see, let me know by liking or commenting. I love to get your feedback. You can also help support my newsletter by sharing with others.
Hasta pronto,
Iain
