Did you know that the most important thing about a cartoon is the idea, not the drawing? A cartoon will usually succeed even if the artwork isn’t that great, if the idea is funny or clever, but it doesn’t work the other way.
Have you ever had an idea for a cartoon? If so, see the amazing Cartoon-o-tron below!
If you haven’t already, you can subscribe for free to receive my new cartoons by email every Friday. Newsletters are hosted on Substack.
Do you have an idea for a cartoon? Pop it into the Cartoon-o-tron!
This is my version of cartoons by AI. Artist, illustrator. Naturally.
If you do have an idea for a cartoon and would like me to draw it, send me a message via my contact button on Linktree. Ideas should be for a one-panel drawing (not a cartoon strip). I’ll consider all suggestions and pick a winner over the next few weeks.
I’ll publish the cartoon in this newsletter and acknowledge the winner for the idea. I’ll only print your name with your consent, or you may wish to use a pseudonym (even more creative!).
[It’s probably important to mention that ideas should be freely submitted and that the cartoonist (me!) will retain sole copyright for the image. Versions of the cartoon may also appear on social media.]
Get your thinking caps on and let’s have some fun! Send me your idea!
UK Government Announces New Emergency Alert On Smart Phones:
The UK Government is about to introduce Emergency Alerts on people’s smart phones. Apparently the messages will initially focus on the most serious weather-related events. This cartoon questions what other ‘emergency alerts’ we might receive in the future. Will it be used for propaganda, such as the inhumane language currently used by the UK Government towards migrants and refugees?
London Metropolitan Police are Institutionally Racist, Misogynistic and Homophobic:
Boris Johnstone Appears Before the Commons Privileges Committee:
Two news events in one cartoon! A report finds London Metropolitan Police to be institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic. And Boris Johnson appears before the Commons Privileges Committee to deny he mislead parliament over covid rules and 'party-gate'. I call this cartoon the ‘Boris’ defence.
Thanks for reading and subscribing.
