As I mentioned on social media, it's hard to believe that the ‘NAT-C’ abbreviation for the National Conservatism Conference this week was an accident, but it did lend itself well to satire. See my cartoon below featuring Conservatives Jacob Rees-Mogg and Suella Braverman who were speakers at the (very) right-wing get-together.
Also in the news, the Royal College of Nursing in England are continuing the fight for a decent pay rise and are threatening further strike action. I’m not sure I would mess with the nurses.
I also created a cartoon strip in support of Mental Health Awareness Week (15 May to 21 May 2023). No captions, so make of it what you will.
A cartoon that didn’t happen was intended for our wedding anniversary. The traditional gift this year is something of iron, so it was either a new clothes iron or a bottle of irn-bru. Cartooning can be a dangerous business, so I decided to abstain.
And finally, strange events at Up In The Moor have meant that the next episode of ‘The Thing in the Woods’ has been postponed until next week.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2023
Sharing these quotes from the WHO’s World Mental Health Report:
Mental health is an integral part of our general health and well-being and a basic human right.
It is as important as our physical health.
As the world comes to live with, and learn from, the far-reaching effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must all reflect on one of its most striking aspects – the huge toll it has taken on people’s mental health.
