Welcome to the six-month milestone edition of my newsletter.
It seems a lot longer than 26 weeks ago that I decided to start publishing my cartoons. True to my word, there has been a bit of trial and error as I experiment with digital media and play with themes and styles, but I think things are evolving nicely and I’m really looking forward to the next 6 months.
To celebrate, I created a new profile picture that I’ve rolled out across social media, etc. I think you’ll agree it’s a much better likeness.
Last week I previewed a new cartoon strip called Augbot & I to help promote my newsletter on social media. This week I’m launching the cartoon properly with the first strip in the series. The plan is to feature the strip regularly for the foreseeable, so I hope you like. The first few strips are intended to introduce the characters and ‘explain’ the relationship. Make of it what you will!
Also this week, I thought I’d select six of my favourite cartoons from the past six months. For more context, I’ve included the link to the relevant newsletter. If you have other favourites, let me know in the comments below!
A surprise hit this week is a cartoon I drew for a friend’s birthday, which happened to coincide with International Body Piercing Day … yes, I know, there’s a day for everything! Anyway, I added the comment, ‘cool AND practical’, and it quickly became my most liked cartoon on Instagram - so far!
My plan to introduce a monthly newsletter for patrons only is taking shape. My weekly newsletter will continue to be free, but I’m hoping a paid option will encourage a small amount of patronage to help support my work, sustain the newsletters, and (as you already know) fund the tea and biscuits 🫖. I intend to launch this at the end of Jul’23, and I’ll share more details in the coming weeks.
Thank you for following and supporting me on my cartoon journey this year. I really appreciate the encouragement - it keeps the wind in my sails. So, here’s to the next six months!
